Epilogue: Sports Development In Ghana

John Kumi, Lecturer at Jayee University College

In view of such sporting error in the country, a lecturer at Jayee University College Mr. John Kumi has been addressing the problems and way forward to curbing the practice where much attention is paid to football leaving the rest of the sporting disciplines in limbo.

He has supported the idea that government should support the development of sports in the country, but he however stated that the various finances spent on all sporting events in the country be fairly distributed in all the sporting disciplines to help unearth enough talents not only from football.

He added that if all athletes are to be given the same level playing ground, sports development would have reached its climax in the country.

'If all sporting disciplines be given the same level of playing ground, we would have been boasting of enough medals and talents which would have been a good mark for the country.
I therefore suggest that government should pay enough attention to the so called least financed sports as the country can also benefit from there", Mr. Kumi stressed.

He emphasized that it is only when a good foundation is laid that is when the level of sports in the country would develop.
